Seven More Sleeps

One dark and rainy Thursday evening in February of this year Graham and I were sitting in front of the fireplace at the Deep Cove Yacht Club enjoying dinner with Annmarie and Doran. It was all these long cold rainy months ago that the four of us decided to embark on a great adventure together. Destination?  Desolation Sound. For five months we have planned and organized and strategized. Graham has worked virtually non-stop since the end of May preparing the boat and getting our beloved Playin' Hooky ready. From bow to stern he has worked tirelessly in the evenings and almost every Sunday for the past month. But let's not be fooled here. He LOVES his boat. He LOVES spending time on the docks chatting to "the guys" and trading long winded tales of the high seas. Let's face it, after the grandchildren and Bob...hmmm...what comes next?
Call it the "Sharman-Thomas Excellent Adventure" or a remake of "Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice" (geriatric version) and you may be close to what we are hoping for. GT will obviously take on the role as our fearless Captain, Doran First Mate, Annmarie Head Galley Chef and moi, no surprise to any of you, will take on the position of  OCD Deckhand Extraordinaire. I am sure that I will be in trouble before we even pass Point Atkinson for washing someone's glass or putting away their favorite sweater or book before they have finished with it. Swabbing the deck is my kind of gig.
So if you care to follow along with us you can do so at Desolation Sound 2011 and we will be so happy to have you along for the ride.
And finally, speaking of those long cold rainy months of waiting....let's pray for the sun to finally shine on us please!  Otherwise...picture four adults and a dog for ten days in close quarters and nowhere to escape!
