The ending of today's story is of the most happy kind. It just took alot of time and tremendous effort on the part of a mother and a baby to get to there.
Haven't we all experienced times in our lives when we thought we did everything within our power to fully prepare for a certain occasion and regardless of all our determined hard work and dedication to the task, something comes out of the blue and smacks you down so hard; you incredulously wonder how this can be? Jennifer was as prepared for the birth of her son as any astronaut is prepared for his inaugural flight to the moon. Let's just say that the past three days were not as she had hopefully planned, but she did her very best to adapt to the new situation with courage; always maintaining her goal to do the best thing for her baby.
Someone (me) who has an ancient history as a worker in the medical field who also happens to be the mother of the patient, should have known that this would be a very bad combo. My ears and eyes were constantly on alert, watching for mistakes, listening for bad information and worrying about the well being of "my child" and "her child" for about 64 hours give or take a few decades. In this case, there is the happy ending where the new mom and dad win the grand prize. A beautiful baby who will now take them on the roller coaster ride of a lifetime.
Love and congratulations to the new parents, Mike and Jen. Well done!!!

Dear Leslie: Today at church the topic was "names" and how hurtful nic-names we get tagged with at school can affect us our lifetime. I had made an announcement early in the service, sharing Samuel's arrival. The topic ofcourse centered in positive ways our name effects us. I love my great-grandson's name. It is strong and shows the caring love his parents have in honouring the grandfathers, too. Each picture is a treasure. With love to all.
What about another blog entry and a few more pics before dinner!
